Veteran goalkeeper who joined the Pitmen in the summer of 2017 from Rushall Olympic

A vastly experienced performer at all levels from International level down to step three, Lisbon-born Veiga joined his local side Benfica as a schoolboy and signed his first professional contract with the Portuguese giants in the summer of 1995. However, he failed to make an appearance for Benfica as the club's third choice keeper as was allowed to leave the club in the summer of 1996 to join Portuguese Second Division side FC Alverca, who have long been regarded as a feeder team to Benfica

A successful campaign in 1997-1998 saw the club promoted to the top flight for the first time in a number of decades, with Veiga becoming a constant presence between the sticks. His form for Alverca earned him a move to Spanish football, where he linked up with Valencia-based Levante. His first season there was a forgettable one, with Levante finished bottom of La Liga 2 and relegated to the third tier of Spanish football. 1998-1999 saw Levante return to the second tier with 1999-2000 seeing an impressive finish of seventh in La Liga 2, above more formidable names such as Sporting Gijon, Albacete and Tenerife. He spent a spell on loan at La Liga side Real Valladolid towards the end of the 2001-2002 season, without making an appearance

After 130 games in Valencia, Veiga moved on in the summer of 2002 to join Portuguese First Division side Estrela Amordara. The one-time UEFA Cup side continued to defeat the odds and maintain their top fight status on Veiga's three seasons there, making over ninety appearances for the Lisbon-based side. It was whilst at Amordara that Veiga made the first of thirteen appearances for Portuguese colony Cape Verde at International level, joining up with the squad for the first time in 2004 ahead of a game against South Africa

A short spell at second tier side CF Olhanense followed in 2005-2006, before Veiga made the journey to England to try his luck as a professional in the UK. He trialled for Walsall and Bury during the summer of 2006, before agreeing to link up with Blue Square Premier side Tamworth after gaining International Clearance. He became a popular player at the Lamb in two seasons, making over thirty appearances for the club. After a short spell at local rivals Atherstone Town, Veiga joined Hereford United on an emergency loan until the end of the 2008-2009 season, making just two appearances

The summer of 2009 saw Veiga make a key move in his career, joining League Two side Macclesfield Town on a free transfer. he was to become a crowd favourite at Moss Rose, making 100 appearances for the struggling Silkmen after agreeing consecutive contract extensions with the club

In 2012, Veiga stepped down into Blue square North to join the ambitious Harrogate Town, making a handful of appearances during the 2012-2013 campaign before returning to Tamworth for a spell in pre-season. On the eve of the 2013-2014 Skrill North season, Veiga signed or Worcester City, fighting with the similarly experienced Nathan Vaughn over the next two seasons to be City's number one

In July 2015, veiga made the move to Evo-Stik Premier League side Nantwich Town for a short spell, before returning to the West Midlands to link up with Evo-Stik Southern Premier League side Redditch United, managed by future Hednesford manager Liam McDonald

June 2016 saw Tamworth-based Veiga on the move again, with the now 39 year-old joining Hednesford's local rivals Rushall Olympic. He made over thirty appearances for the Pics as they finished in mid-table, despite a superb start to the campaign

In June 2017, after it had been confirmed that Dan Crane had moved from Keys Park to Rushall, Veiga agreed a deal to make the move in the opposite direction to become player/goalkeeping coach for the Pitmen, creating competition for James Wren and an able, experienced coach to work with the younger goalkeepers at the club
