A product of the Wolves academy, Melbourne joined the Pitmen for a third time in June 2017 after a spell at local rivals Stafford rangers

Adaptable player who can play anywhere across defence or midfield and is something of a set-piece specialist, Perton-based Melbourne joined Wolves as a teenager and made progress through the club's academy, signing up as a first year professional in the summer of 2008

Despite this, Melbourne never made a first team appearance whilst at Molineux, and was sent out on loan to Blue Square North high-flyers Tamworth for a month in December 2008

After being released by Wolves in the summer of 2009, he went to Football League sides Port Vale and Exeter City on trial but eventually returned to football with West Midlands (Regional) League side AFC Wulfrunians, where he ended the 2009-2010 season

Linked up with Evo-Stik Division One South side Rushall Olympic on the eve of the 2010-2011 season, and very quickly established himself as a fixture in the side before the Pitmen snapped him up ahead of their home game with Banbury United. His hard running down the right quickly endeared him to the Hednesford supporters, with Melbourne weighing in in with two crucial goals in the run-in

After signing a new deal for the 2011-2012 season, Melbourne made a surprising u-turn two days before the start of the campaign by announcing he was to join local rivals Chasetown. After just a couple of months with the Scholars, Melbourne made the move back to Rushall, who were flying high in their first season at Evo-Stik Premier League level. Initially, he found it difficult to break into the Pics side that was pushing for a top five finish, but a superb run of form from January onwards saw him cement his place as a first team starter, scoring the winner in Rushall's 1-0 win over FC United of Manchester in March

Rejoined the Pitmen in June 2012, but had to bide his time in search of a first team place as John Disney claimed the right back spot early on in the season. An injury to Disney mid-season saw Melbourne slot into his place, turning in a succession of impressive performances from both right back and central midfield. Unfortunately, Melbourne suffered a nasty looking ankle injury in a Birmingham Senior Cup game at Coventry Sphinx in March 2013, and returned just in time to be part of the Pitmen's successful play-off winning side

In June 2013, Melbourne followed a number of his team-mates in committing his future to the Pitmen for the forthcoming season. Having spent much of the first half of the Pitmen's successful return to step two amongst the substitutes, Melbourne joined local rivals Stafford Rangers on a month's loan in January 2014. He returned to the Pitmen's side in February 2014, coming on as a substitute in the Skrill North defeat to Solihull Moors after four games at Marston Road. He was one of the first players to agree a new deal with the Pitmen ahead of the 2014-2015 season

A frustrating 2014-2015 campaign has seen Melbourne used mainly as a substitute, slotting into a number of positions as the Pitmen again defied the odds to challenge for a play-off spot. He was dual registered with Rushall once more in February 2015 as he looked to get first team games under his belt

After leaving Hednesford for a second time in the summer of 2015, Melbourne joined local rivals Stafford on a permanent deal in July. Alongside a number of former Hednesford players, Melbourne helped Stafford to the Evo-Stik Division One South title in April 2016 before agreeing a deal to remain at Marston Road of the 2016-2017 Evo-Stik Premier League campaign

However, it was to be a frustrating season for Melbourne, who missed a chunk of Stafford's return to step three due to a long-term injury. In June 2017, he made the welcome switch to Keys Park for a third time in his career to link up with Neil Tooth and his new look squad
