Hugely experienced centre back who joined the Pitmen on loan from Vanarama National League North side Boston United in February 2017

A veteran of over 400 appearances at all levels of football, from the Championship down to step two of the semi-pro game, Sheffield-born Brown came through the ranks at Huddersfield Town, becoming a professional in 1998 and going on to make nearly sixty starts for the Terriers until he was released by the club in the summer of 2005

He made the move to Lincolnshire in the summer, joining Coca-Cola League Two strugglers Lincoln City. Brown enjoyed a successful first season at Sincil Banks, with the Imps making the play-offs and making progress in the League Cup

Despite the late Keith Alexander departing the club in the summer for Peterborough United, Lincoln enjoyed another impressive season in 2006-2007, as under the guidance of John Schofield, they again confounded the critics by finishing fifth in League Two and again qualifying for the play-offs, which they lost over two legs to Bristol Rovers

the following season was not to be be as successful, however, as Lincoln struggled and fired Schofield after a poor start. Brown's appearances were few and far between towards the end of the campaign under new manager Peter Jackson, and he was released at the end of the campaign

Brown was recruited by Wrexham in the summer of 2008, after the Red Dragons had dropped out of the Football League in May and were looking for an immediate return. Things did not work out for the centre back, however, as he made only six starts before joining Macclesfield Town on a season-long loan, reuniting him with former manager Keith Alexander after he had taken over from Ian Brightwell and Asa Hartford. The Silkmen managed to ward off the spectre of relegation to the Conference with a good run of form towards the end of the season, meaning new permanent deals for Alexander and Brown at Moss Rose for the following campaign

Indeed, Brown was to have the most productive spell of his career whilst at Macclesfield, making over 150 appearances for the Silkmen in a roller-coaster few years for the club that saw the death of Alexander and relegation back to non-league football in May 2012

After spending a short loan spell back at Lincoln in March 2013, Brown made the permanent switch back to Sincil Bank after his Macclesfield contract came to an end in 2013, where he was to enjoy another fine three year spell as Lincoln stabilised back in the Conference

After eighty five games for City, he spent short spells out on loan to FC Halifax Town and Harrogate Town, before linking up with Boston United in March 2016. His arrival was just the boost play-off chasing Boston needed, as they finished fifth to deny Nuneaton Town the final spot on the last day of the season. However, despite taking a two goal lead into the second leg of the play-off semi-final against North Ferriby United, Boston eventually allowed the Villagers to win 3-2 over the 180 minutes

After agreeing a permanent deal with Boston in the summer of 2017, Brown made a number of starts at the beginning of the campaign before falling out of favour. he joined the Pitmen on a month's loan on February 2017 and oversaw a clean sheet on his debut, a 5-0 home win over Skelmersdale United
