. POSTED 22.4.2017 EVO-STIK PREMIER LEAGUE - WHITBY TOWN 1 PITMEN 0
e The Pitmen's woeful campaign comes to an end with defeat at Whitby this afternoon, despite a spirited display from the visitors. An impressive first half display from the Pitmen saw them hit the crossbar and go close on a handful of occasions, but were left facing a fifth defeat in a row after Dale Hopson's superb second half goal gave the home side all three points

. Today's local derby is won by Stafford for the third time this season, as they ease to a win over a dreadful Hednesford side at Keys Park. Goals in each half from Jack Sherratt and Izak Reid are enough to earn Rangers all three points against a Hednesford side devoid of ideas and quality

Lloyd Ransome The Pitmen ended a hectic even days of games with back-to-back defeats, as play-off chasing Matlock completed a league double over the home side with relative ease this afternoon. Lloyd Ransome made a brilliant early penalty save to deny Marcus Dinanga, but could do little to deny Niall McManus and Dinanga in the second half as Matlock kept their slim play-off hopes alive with all three points over a poor Hednesford side

. . Danny Glover The Pitmen's recent spike in form continued this evening, as they started their hectic week of home games with a well-earned point against paly-off chasing Stourbridge tonight. Danny Glover's second half goal looked to have been enough to earn the home side all three points, but a brilliant late free kick from the league's top scorer Luke Benbow sealed a point for the Glassboys in their quest for a top five finish

. . Joe Ballinger It's two wins in a week for the Pitmen this afternoon, as they edge out struggling Mickleover Sports at the Don Amott Arena to move into the top half of the league table. A poor game saw Mickleover strike the woodwork three times in the ninety minutes, but they could do little to stop centre back Joe Ballinger scoring his first goal for the club early in the second half, rifling home at the far post to earn his club all three points

. . Danny Glover A lacklustre attacking display from the Pitmen, which saw them register only one shot on target, saw Warrington Town ease to another three points as they keep up their plat-off challenge at Cantilever Park this afternoon. Mitchell Duggan's first half goal was enough to earn the Yellows the win, although Danny Glover should have grabbed a late point for the visitors with a penalty that was well saved by Warrington keeper Tony McMillan

This will be a troublesome fixture to fit into the remaining schedule, with the club currently without a midweek slot remaining this term, on top of a Staffordshire Senior Cup semi-final against Chasetown to arrange

. . Desean Martin A late, late stunner from the Pitmen's forgotten man Desean Martin earns the Pitmen a point in their first ever trip to Coalville Town this afternoon. A rollercoaster second half saw the lead swing both ways, as Tony Clarke's first ever goal for the Pitmen looked to have won it for the visitors, until a quickfire double from Nathan Watson (penalty) and a superb Danny Jenno free kick put Coalville ahead. Martin was to have the last say, however, volleying home from thirty yards out to claim a point for  Gary Birch in his first game in permanent charge
